When children learn to talk, they listen to and then imitate the models around them. Without any awareness, they have learnt the skills they need to express themselves effectively. The quality of expression depends on the quality of the models.

Phonics teaches the basic sounds of vocal communication.
Many languages have sounds that do not occur in English. English has some sounds which may be new to other nationalities.
It is vital to teach all of the basic sounds of the English language to students. Without these basics, conversation is always difficult. The way phonics are pronounced also determines a speaker’s accent.
 
Correct pronunciation of all the basic sounds is necessary in order to be clearly understood and avoid communication problems. It is of no use majoring on grammar if pronunciation is not established first.

This Teachers Toolkit contains everything required to confidently assess and teach English pronunciation.
From the assessment, a lesson plan is printed. The easy to follow lesson plan uses multimedia video clips for interactive training. Watch the Presenter & Mimic the Sounds. This training can be done individually, in small groups or using a data projector in a classroom environment. A Windows PC computer is required.

CD 1. Spoken English - Assessment & Training
  
The first CD provides the framework for pronunciation assessment by comparing the trainee with the video presenter. Each phonic and blend is given a score (red-yellow-green) and when printed this becomes the ‘Lesson Plan’. This CD is also used for supervised training and repetition. Other features include:- Print a ‘Certificate of Proficiency’, links to over 1000 Conversation Questions, a Dictionary, Tongue Twisters, printable Users Manual, Assessment Sheets, Lesson Plans and Sound Board.

CD 2. English Pronunciation - Foundational Phonics - Training
            
This CD, in flashcard format establishes Alphabet Phonics, Short Vowels, Beginning and Ending Consonant Blends, Long Vowels and comprehension Reviews. A Sound Board provides an opportunity to compare and work on problem sounds,
to build and decode words.
           

CD 3. English Pronunciation - Pronunciation Extension - Training
                    
The third CD provides further pronunciation practice with Numbers, Colours and Shapes (with review), a Sound Board,
the Top 100 Words by usage with example Phrases. The Interactive Sentence pages give students the opportunity to be creative. Topics include Greetings, Weather, Feelings, Days of the Week, Months of the Year, Drinks, Fruit, Food, Clothing and Transport.
      

CD 4. Mouth Gym. - English Pronunciation Trainer
         
Provides a pronunciation training workout comprising combinations of consonants, blended consonants and vowels. This program develops the tongue and mouth muscles, gives flexibility and improves the pronunciation of unfamiliar phonics. Sessions can be recorded. This CD is ideal for trainees to practise outside of the classroom and will also operate as an audio CD on a home CD/DVD player or a car stereo system. The audio file copies are in an mp3 folder on the CD and may be used in an iPod or other mp3 player. The workout routines can be accompanied by gym styled music. Additional copies of the Mouth Gym CD may be purchased from our website for resale to trainees. Regular practice between classes greatly assists the learning process.

This is an easier way to start teaching people to speak English. There is an enormous need internationally for 'Spoken English' training.  Most countries school systems already teach English grammar, reading and writing.
This kit meets the unmet requirements for pronunciation practice and conversation with a native English speaker.

This program can be used both by teachers with TESOL qualifications and by volunteer tutors.  It is easy to use and doesn't need any special training.  It can be a starting point or a remedial program for people who need to form new pronunciation habits.
